About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The EVEREST project seeks to fully decarbonize Europe's largest lime plant in Wülfrath, Germany, through the implementation of oxyfuel technology in both new and retrofitted kilns, combined with a comprehensive CO2 capture, liquefaction, transport, and offshore storage system. Partnering with Air Liquide, it utilizes Cryocap technologies to capture up to 1.4 million tons of CO2 annually, achieving nearly 90% GHG emission reduction compared to traditional methods. The initiative supports the EU's climate goals by demonstrating scalable CCUS for the lime and cement industries, with operations planned to commence in 2029.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
