About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The Haru Oni Phase 1 project in Magallanes, Chile, is the world's first operational e-fuels facility, utilizing renewable wind energy to produce green hydrogen via electrolysis, which is then synthesized with captured biogenic CO2 to create synthetic green gasoline at an initial capacity of 130,000 liters per year. This demonstration initiative aims to prove the scalability of carbon-neutral e-fuels for decarbonizing sectors like aviation and shipping by replacing fossil fuels. Operational since December 2022, it is expanding to incorporate direct air capture technology and targets full capacity by 2025.
