About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Union Pacific installed hydrogen fuel cell-powered backup generators at more than 65 crossing signals in the Gulf Coast region starting in 2023, replacing gasoline-powered units. The zero-emission fuel cells provide longer run times and support safe rail operations during power outages while reducing GHG emissions. Evidence: "Union Pacific installed its first seven hydrogen fuel cell generators in February 2023 and has installed 60 more since then... These 67 locations will potentially remove up to 150,000 pounds of CO2 emissions from our network each year." — https://www.up.com/news/service/hydrogen-powered-generators-it-231227
