About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The In Salah project was a pioneering industrial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiative in central Algeria, injecting CO2 separated from natural gas processing into a deep sandstone aquifer beneath the Krechba gas field. Operational from 2004 to 2011, it stored approximately 3.8 million metric tons of CO2 at a planned rate of about 1 million tons per year. The project was suspended due to concerns over caprock integrity from detected ground uplift, providing key lessons for global CCS development.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
