About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

The JERA Hekinan Thermal Power Station project demonstrates co-firing ammonia with coal to reduce CO2 emissions in power generation. It involves 20% ammonia substitution by heating value at Unit No. 4, a 1,000 MW coal-fired unit, with testing that began in April 2024 to assess boiler performance, emissions, and operability. The project advances toward commercial 20% co-firing by fiscal year 2029, supported by low-carbon ammonia supply chains from the United States.

Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
