About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The Kairos@C project aims to establish the first and largest cross-border carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain in the Port of Antwerp, Belgium, capturing CO2 from industrial sources including hydrogen, ethylene oxide, and ammonia plants on the Zandvliet platform. It involves liquefaction, pipeline transport within the port, shipping via specialized LCO2 vessels, and permanent storage in North Sea subsea reservoirs, deploying innovations like CryocapTM cryogenic capture and a large-scale liquefaction plant. The project is expected to avoid 14 Mt of CO2 emissions over its first ten years, supporting decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
