About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Eastman Chemical Company has developed a methanolysis-based depolymerization process to recycle PET plastics using heat, pressure, and methanol. The commercial plant in Kingsport, Tennessee, completed pilot testing and began operations in late 2019, with full commercial production achieved in 2024, processing up to 100,000 metric tons of hard-to-recycle plastic waste annually to produce virgin-quality PET. This initiative supports circular economy goals by diverting waste from landfills and reducing the need for fossil-based materials.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
