About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
This demonstration project constructs a 57 km two-way four-lane highway in Ningxia, China, employing technologies like coal-based solid waste roadbed filling, polymer materials from solid waste, and waste rubber/plastic modified asphalt to integrate bulk industrial solid waste into infrastructure. It utilizes approximately 2.8 million tonnes of industrial solid waste in total, saving 2.1 million tonnes of sand and gravel mining while reducing annual CO2 emissions by about 4,500 metric tons. Selected in 2024 as one of China's first green and low-carbon advanced technology demonstration projects, it advances sustainable and low-carbon highway construction.
