About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Northern Lights Phase 1 is the first-of-its-kind open-access CO2 transport and storage hub in Europe, developed under the Longship project to provide carbon storage services to industrial emitters. With a capacity to store 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 per annum, construction was completed in September 2024, and the first CO2 injections began in August 2025. The project facilitates permanent offshore storage in the Aurora reservoir, enabling cross-border CO2 management and supporting Europe's decarbonization efforts.

Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
