About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The INDIGO project retrofits the large passenger cruise ship Enchanted Princess with a safe, cost-effective energy system for medium-speed engines using RFNBO fuels like e-methanol, integrated with battery storage and electric start systems. This setup optimizes engine performance and is projected to reduce GHG emissions by 74% and key air pollutants significantly (SOx 99%, NOx 70%, particulates 85%) compared to traditional marine fuels. As a replicable platform, it supports extended ship lifecycles and widespread adoption of sustainable fuels in the maritime sector, aligning with FuelEU Maritime and EU Green Deal objectives.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
