About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The Sakhalin Low-Carbon Hydrogen and Ammonia Production Project involves Rosatom and the Sakhalin regional government in developing a facility for producing blue hydrogen via steam methane reforming with CO2 capture and storage, initially partnered with Air Liquide. The project targets initial production of 30,000 tons of hydrogen per year starting in 2024, scaling to 100,000 tons by 2030, to support low-carbon ammonia manufacturing in the chemicals sector. It positions Sakhalin as a key hub for Russia's hydrogen economy, with potential exports to Asia.
