About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

The Steel Slab Electrified Induction Reheat Furnace Upgrade project at Cleveland-Cliffs' Butler Works in Pennsylvania plans to replace two natural gas-fired high-temperature slab reheat furnaces with four electrified induction reheat furnaces. This initiative will electrify the sole U.S. production facility for high-silicon grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES), a critical material for transformers and the electricity grid. The upgrade aims to achieve up to a 100% reduction in direct greenhouse gas emissions from the reheat process while enhancing energy efficiency, slab quality, and local air quality.

Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
