About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The Steelanol project is a pioneering carbon capture and utilization initiative at ArcelorMittal's Ghent steel plant in Belgium, in partnership with LanzaTech. It captures carbon-rich waste gases from the blast furnace and biologically converts them into advanced bio-ethanol using gas fermentation technology, with an annual production capacity of 80 million liters. Operational since 2023, the facility has achieved key production milestones and is expected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 125,000 metric tons.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
