About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The SOL project develops crude sugar oil (CSO™) from cellulose via dilute acid hydrolysis and emulsifies it with heavy fuel oil to create a sustainable marine fuel for sea-going vessels. It aims to validate the technical and economic viability of this fuel while achieving greater than 80% relative GHG emission avoidance over the first ten years compared to fossil fuels. The project scales up production to a 5 ktpa commercial plant in the Port of Rotterdam.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
