About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
thyssenkrupp Steel Europe is constructing a hydrogen-capable direct reduction plant with two electric melters at its Duisburg site to replace a coal-based blast furnace. The plant will initially use natural gas and transition to green hydrogen, enabling low-carbon pig iron production integrated into existing steelmaking processes. Evidence: "thyssenkrupp Steel places an order with SMS group... for the engineering, delivery and construction of a hydrogen-powered direct reduction plant... This marks the start of one of the biggest industrial decarbonization projects worldwide, which at one stroke will avoid more than 3.5 million metric tons of CO2 per year in the future." — https://www.thyssenkrupp-steel.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/thyssenkrupp-steel-awards-a-contract-worth-billions-of-euros-to-sms-group-for-a-direct-reduction-plant.html
