About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
TRIMET is advancing a pioneering technology for CO2-free aluminum production using inert anodes and cathodes that release oxygen instead of carbon dioxide during electrolysis. After successful pilot plant operations, the project is scaling up to a demonstration facility at the Essen smelter, testing cells up to 40,000 A under industrial conditions. Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and the EU's NextGenerationEU, this initiative aims to significantly reduce direct emissions in primary aluminum smelting.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
