About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
ZESTA transforms ArcelorMittal's Ghent steelmaking operations by replacing one blast furnace with a Direct Reduction Plant, two Electric Arc Furnaces, a 5MW electrolyser for hydrogen, and CCS technologies. It uses hydrogen or natural gas as reducing agents, achieving a 76% GHG emissions reduction over the first ten years compared to BF-BOF routes, saving 32 million tons CO2eq. The project enables flexible grid balancing and advances sustainable steel production in Europe.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
