The APAC Outlook 2026: the region has started pricing net zero
Five new compliance markets in a year, priced emissions up more than 30 percent, and border adjustments already landing.

APAC has stopped talking about net zero. It has started pricing it. In 2026 the region holds the majority of the world’s emissions, industrial output and shipping activity. Five new compliance markets appeared in a single year. Priced emissions jumped more than 30 percent. What used to be voluntary targets are becoming invoices.
European border adjustments are already landing. Chinese exporters face the largest bill, followed by India, Korea and Japan. Singapore is quietly stitching together bilateral carbon deals at speed.
Supply chains that treat APAC emissions as someone else’s problem will soon discover the cost. The only lasting response is to reduce emissions at source. Insetting, not offsets.
